Granary Island in Gdańsk

Wyspa Spichrzów (the Granary Island) is a priceless diamond on the Gdańsk's crown and one of the most demanding urban challenges in Poland. This 30 hectares' island in the very centre of The Old City used to be a great token of Gdańsk's economy and political power. Having been waiting for it's golden times to come back for 60 years, it gradually transformed into a haunted ruin and the most neglected part of the city. Gray International offered the city authorities to develop a comprehensive and coherent concept for revitalisation of the area, profoundly cut by multi-lane roadway dating back to the era of Real Socialism. The world's top architects prepared designs of rebuilding the island, forming the grounds for a heated dispute. The process resulted in a homogenous master plan for development of Wyspa Spichrzów prepared by Stanisław Fiszer. We hope that our project will put an end to the seemingly unending series of failed attempts at restoring this valuable site to its past glory.
